You don’t need to be obsessed with juices or juice cleanses just to have a need for a juicer. Yes, having one is a great and affordable option for those who juice regularly, but even if you don’t, there are tons of great uses for a juicer. You can juice fruit to flavor your water, add it to cocktails, and more. But more importantly, it has to be functional, easy to use, and easy to clean, otherwise, you won’t use it at all and it will sit on the top shelf of that cabinet with other kitchen junk that you never use.
I recently added celery juice to my routine but got tired of spending $6/bottle at a juice store and decided it’s time to make it myself. After all, celery is so cheap, there’s no need to spend that much on one bottle. The juicer I had was old, bulky, and nearly impossible to clean which steered me away from using it at all. Hence the reason for it being in a cabinet I can’t reach without standing on a chair.
With our wedding coming up, I did some research and added an Aicok juicer to our registry on Amazon. Luckily, one of our amazing friends purchased it for us and I got started the day it arrived! In addition to having high reviews, I went for a juicer that was compact, quiet, and slow masticating. Here are the reasons why I went with a slow juicer:
- No blades: it chews the fruit or veggies through augers
- It’s quieter
- It’s good for leafy greens and wheatgrass
- Higher juice yield
- Maximum nutrients
- Squeezes 95-98% of the juice out
This particular juicer also came with a little brush to clean the pieces which really comes in handy. It’s easy to take the pieces apart to clean (my last one would get stuck and I couldn’t even clean it sometimes) and the parts themselves clean very easily. So not only is it easy to clean, it doesn’t take up a lot of space and I now keep it on a reachable shelf since it’s become a stable kitchen gadget for me.
You don’t have to buy this exact model, but it’s the only one I have personal experience with so I highly recommend it. If you’re looking for a more affordable option, just make sure to find one that is quiet, slow masticating so you have the highest quality, and is easy to clean. That might be the most important because if you can’t clean it or it’s a pain in the ass to clean, you won’t use it!
